MATCH REPORT
Rugby Town's manager, Grant Joshua, was Coleshill's manager last season and left under a cloud with the intention of going to a bigger club! So there was a lot riding on thisfirst meeting of the season, and at this time, not much between them in the league table. It was a hard fought contest with very little goalmouth action until the later stages. In the first half Harry Sweeney hit a shot from just outside the box but home keeper Bald tipped the effort over the bar. In reply a fine run and shot from a defensive position by Ryan Sahota saw Cameron Belford save at the foot of his right hand post. But neither side created enough to take the lead and went into the break all square. Little changed in the second half and a goalless, bore draw, seemed the most likely outcome until the 69th minute when Theo Rowe found himself in a bit of space on the edge of the box and his strike was out of the reach of keeper Bald and sneaked into the right hand corner of the net. Thank you Theo, lets go home with the three points! But wait a minute, Rugby hit back! Less than 10 minutes later the scores were level as a goalmouth scramble was laid back to Caine Elliot who smashed a shot through the pack of players and into the corner of the net just out of the reach of the diving Belford. Ok, let's settle for a draw? With just Five minutes to go a harmless throw in down the Rugby right found Callum Griffin just inside the box, surrounded by at least five defenders, but his left foot shot somehow found it's way through the defenders and into the only part of the net that keeper Belford couldn't cover! Disappointing for Coleshill but joy for the home side and their manager in particular!
