Hanlon Header Lifts Coleshill At Knowle
Coleshill continued in making a habit of beating the top Midland Combination teams, but losing to those near the bottom. On Saturday the visited and defeated Knowle, who were in 4th place, but on Easter Monday they went down 1-0 to bottom club Cadbury Heath. It was a surprise set back for the greatly improved Knowle team, who started the game at a cracking pace and threatened to overrun their visitors, with Evans in midfield dictating matters. Completely against the run of play, however, Coleshill took a 26th minute lead when Patrick cleverly worked his way down the right and crossed the ball for Hanlon to beat home keeper Jones with a diving header. While Coleshill grew in confidence following this success it was Knowle who looked the more likely to score and near half time Curry missed a great chance to level matters, when he failed to convert a cross from Saunders. Exchanges were fairly even at the start of the second hald, but Coleshill's Patrick was forced to leave the field in the 65th minute with a broken wrist. Both defences were in tremendous form as attacks ebbed and flowed and Coleshill brilliantly held on for a fine vistory.
