COLESHILL CHRONICLE WROTE
Coleshill's Poor Form Continues

Coleshill Town's current loss of form and lack of goals continued at Pack Meadow on Saturday when they were sent crashing out of the Midland Combination Challenge Cup by Moor Green. After the bonus of a second minute penalty well taken by Nabbs, they folded up under pressure and fell behind to goals by Lloyd, Peacock and Pace in the first half. The game opened with two good Town attacks, in the second minute Macdonald was brought down by full back Clamp just inside the penalty area. Ray Nabbs, taking over from Roy Phelps as the Coleshill penalty taker, hit a good low shot into the corner for Town to take the lead. Within seconds Nabbs was in the action again, in his own half with a cool pass back to te keeper. The Moors now came forward with a nice controlled raid and found Lloyd twelve yards out who comfortably picked his spot and shot home the equaliser after five minutes. Moor Green full back Clamp was fouled by Phelps on an overlapping run up the right, the resulting free kick was cleared, but the visitors kept up the pressure and a speedy attack up the right hand side of the park set up the visitors second goal when Peacock headed in from close range with the Town defence as spectators. A looping free kick by Hanlon was easily caught by Walker when a lack of challenge showed was again in the home attack. Lloyd, Moor Green's midfield dynamo, pushed forward again and a glaring mistake by Phelps let in Pace to score with keeper Lake unlucky as he dived to push the ball onto the post before going into the net. The tension of recent results began to show on the Town defenders and Hanlon and Phelps were booked in quick succession for two very deliberate fouls. In the run up to half time Coleshill mounted two good attacks, the first when good play by Nabbs and Macdonald sent Macdonald down the wing but the winger lost control and ran the ball out of play for a throw-in. The next raid came to an end when Jarvis was fouled and Hanlon's free kick went straight out for a goal kick. After two minutes of the second half Town's manager Pat Foley was spoken to by the referee for voiving his opinions from his seat in the dug-out. This seemed to lift the Town attack and two good runs by Allcock were forced for corners. On the hour Brayson sustained a leg injury and two minutes later was substituted by Brayley. An old fashioned sliding tackle by Garnell saved a dangerous situation for Coleshill when Newis went on a lone raid down the centre of the park. Shortly after this the home supporters and players alike showed their disapproval when the referee waved play on after Nabbs had been flattened by a charge in the back in front of goal. With Lloyd still having a big impact on the game for Moors he drove them forward in a continual attack. Coleshill's only answer at this stage was a determined run on the right by Newey, who had come on to replace Macdonald, which was cleared for a corner when he had forged into the six yard box. The corner came to nothing but a shot by Hanlon well outside the 18 yard box went wide of the goal. Shortly after Garnell and the Coleshill defence stood waiting for an off-side decision which did not come although Walsh looked to be well off, but he went on to smash the ball past the advancing Lake to conclude the scoring. Coleshill fought hard in the remaining minutes of the game and went close with efforts from Jarvis, who made Walker go full length to save, and Allcock also tested the keeper. Coleshill will have to improve their approach work and be more positive in front of goal before their encounter this Saturday with Hinckley Athletic in the F.A. Challenge Vase. Let's hope they do and progress in this competition and not make it three cup exits in as many weeks.
