Coleshill Aim For Best Place As Super Revival Continues

Coleshill's superb revival continued with two valuable Midland Combination First Division points against a poor Evesham side at Common Lane on Saturday. While the match never reached any great heights, Coleshill displayed the determination to claw themselves back from going a goal down. Town's Player-Manager Pat Foley, was forced to don the keepers jersey in the absence of the injured Peter King. After some early scares, the brave Foley clung on to everything that Evesham forwards could fire at him. One early goal from United's player manager Feeley was disallowed for offside, but this brought Town to life and both Patrick and Allcock saw shots hit the woodwork. Coleshill built up attacks in encouraging fashion, but missed chance after chance. By comparison the home side had few attempts at goal but they took a shock 24th minute lead. They broke down the right and Coleshill's appeals for a throw in were ignored. The ball came across and although Foley made a courageous attempt to save, Henry put Evesham in front. For a time the Evesham goal led a charmed life, with Allcock having two attempts cleared off the line and Newey seeing another effort treated likewise. Chris Dight kept Town in it by heading clear early in the second half, and then, in the 61st minute, Coleshill got a deserved equaliser. Bean, under no pressure in the Evesham defence, handled a poor cross from Patrick and Holder fired in from the penalty spot. Foley made a couple of good saves from Ball and Feeley and in the 70th minute Town took the lead. A Holder free-kick found Mick Patrick all on his own in the box and he neatly headed home. Coleshill pressed for the remainder of the game to deservedly gain success, their fourth in a row. Coleshill, currently 10th in the division one table, look poised to finish in their highest place ever and they must be really confident for the big clash with leaders West Midlands Police in the next game at Pack Meadow. Police won the previous clash 5-0, but that was several weeks ago, when Town were going through a lean spell and this confrontation promises to be much closer than that.
