Following a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Smethwick Highfield Reserves the previous Saturday, Town hoped for better luck when they visited Highgate United Reserves on Tuesday. Although dominating play in the first half they found themselves 2-0 down at the interval, Keith Midgley and Geoff Statham scoring own goals. Goalkeeper Pete Garnell dislocated a thumb and was replaced by Oscar Deeming, winger Eddie Hanlon could play only at walking pace and Highgate ran riot, scoring another four goals. Roy Phelps was on target for Coleshill.
