COLESHILL CHRONICLE WROTE
Coleshill Battle On
Coleshill Town, Midland Combination Second Division Champions and winners of the Coleshill Charity Cup many times, had to fight hard to win their tie with 3M Sports on Saturday. This Coleshill Cup game, which went to extra-time, was full of excitement, and indeed, the second division champions were handed out a shock after 15 minutes, when Barry Russell netted for Sports. Coleshill were not enjoying life against a fast and tricky 3M Sports side, but after 28 minutes, they managed to get the equaliser when Phelps headed home a Curtis throw in. Play swung from end to end in the first period of the second half and it took just 18 minutes of this half for Sports to regain the lead, Herby Dyde cracked home a fierce 25 yard shot that gave keeper Garnell no chance. It took the Town only four minutes to get back on level terms when Phelps netted. He went on to complete his "hat-trick" in the first five minutes of extra time, but Sports refused to sit back and drew level soon after with a goal from Russell. Goals from Phelps and Sanders in the last period of extra time, saw Coleshill safely home, but they were made to fight.
