COLESHILL CHRONICLE WROTE
Junior Cup Exit For Coleshill

Three second half goals put paid to Midland Combination Second Division Champions Coleshill Town's hopes of success in the Birmingham Junior Cup on Saturday. The non arrival of skipper Tim Rawlings did not help Town's back numbers and when Steve Ward was forced to retire with an arm injury after only 30 minutes play the visitors prospects became brighter. It would seem that Coleshill would do better to leave "strong man" Statham to look directly after the middle of the park while also pay a lot more attention to the opposing wingmen who, in this match were given far too much freedom. Coleshill were equally as smart as their West Midlands League visitors in the first half and failed to round off their sound approach work in a period that Rowley were taking time to settle down. Once they had got the measure of the heavy Memorial Park pitch and gradually sorted out the "bolt holes" in the Town defence, Rowley struck with three well taken goals to return back to the Black Country worthy winners.
